Earthquakes

This notification just arrived. I´m not really good at working out whether this will badly affect any city, town or village, but I hope not, it´s a big quake. Anyone know if this will have a bad effect anywhere?

Loretta I would guess that depends on the boundaries of the tectonic plates responsible for the earthquake.

The last we heard here (northern BC) there's no tsunami expected.
We've not heard of any damage or injuries at this point.
Hopefully it stays that way.

I would have thought an earthquake at a depth of over 120km would not have a huge effect on the earth's surface. Could be wrong, though.
