Jerry,my friend

About 45 years ago my friend Jerry introduced me to scuba diving. We dived off the coast of Ireland and down into the depths of a local marine lake, and my love of the underwater world was born. Diving has been a major part of my life since then, and has given me huge pleasure.
Earlier today Jerry died, having been under the palliative care team for a while. Though I hadn't seen him for years, I am quite emotional. I never got the chance to thank him for opening my eyes to life underwater and to tell him how important it has been in my life.
Thanks Jerry, and RIP my friend.

I'm very sorry to hear that Ania, it's heartbreaking to lose a dear friend especially one who introduced you to something you love. God rest his soul, and you take care of yourself.

Thanks, everyone. I felt the need to post about him because maybe only now am I realising how he ultimately influenced my life. Much more so than his brother, who was a boyfriend of mine for a few years.

Re: Jerry,my friend

That is very sad Ania. I'm sure he would have been pleased at how much the diving meant to you, so try not to worry that you never actually thanked him. He doesn't sound the sort of person who would have expected thanks, but I would just be pleased to know you had carried on.

You will no doubt still be diving in the future, so on your next dive, you can silently say "this one's for you Jerry," and who knows - maybe he will even be with you. I hope so. x x
