Porche customer wins £35,000 damages

A well heeled customer put down a £10,000 deposit on the off chance he would be able to buy a Porche car which was due in the uk some 30 months later.
Only 30 were being delivered to this country and it was at the time unclear to which dealerships they would be distributed to.
He found out that the dealership had indeed received the car but sold it to a customer who was below him in the waiting list.
He sued and won £35000 damages plus all legal costs.
Well done him.

Re: Porche customer wins £35,000 damages

That is the way some independent locators work.

For example When the xj220 was announced it would be priced at £300k(?)a dealer would take say£50k deposit off one customer. Jaguar would want £10k so the dealer would put £10k on five cars, using his clients money. By the time the car was in production(limited to only 100 cars)interest would be so high the value would have soared to £750k , the dealer would have 4 on reserve at £300k and sell to the highest bidder.

He'd make a £million+ without using a penny a f his own money.
