Have you ever used the internet to search for someone and was it a success?

I used to play cards online with an American woman.

I managed to find her relatives that lived here with a simple electoral roll search.

Was a nice feeling to put two branches of a family back in touch.

Yes, and yes. I found an old work colleague in South Africa. But it helped that the name was not too common.

Re: Web search.

All short sharp answers. Is there a story behind your searches?

This is mine.: Using 192.com I found my very first boyfriend who I met at Great Yarmouth when I was 15 ... We are now cyber friends. (and yes - Tony knows - it's all quite harmless)

The other person I traced was the daughter of a motherless family I lived with when I was 7 years old. My mum was their housekeeper and the daughter became like a sister to me. Unfortunately she didn't want to resume any friendship with me. She said those times brought back too many unhappy memories - her mums death etc. She sent me a nice letter about herself though and we wished each other well.

So who did you search for? - Are you glad you did it?
