Ha, went to menwith hill just before Christmas , a police officer came out with his sniffer dog and searched my van whilst a fully armed police officer? overlooked the proceedings, they wouldn't let me on as they couldn't locate my contact , very high security base

When i went camping near to menwith hill about 20 years ago they was only a few large Golf Balls, but now they looks to be a lot more. Its a scary looking place, a bit like the Prisoner programme back in the 70's..

Used to pass it every year on the way to the Great Yorkshire Show, always wondered quite what it was for..............

Very funny story regarding Menwith Hill which was exploited by political comedian Mark Thomas some years ago (Mark Thomas Comedy Product).

He too was accosted when driving around the perimeter of the complex trying to see what it was all about.

He discovered that they hadn't restricted the airspace above the complex. So he got a hot air balloon and hovered it right over the complex with binoculars. Hillarious.

I have drove past it on quite a few occasions.
Didn't know what it was called but just assumed it was something to do with spying.

Been there on a couple of occasions during the late 80's, a very strange place indeed.
It has an air of menace about it, hard to explain.
