Re: The English Patient

He sees her in a group in the desert and decides he wants her, even though her husband is present. He doesn’t care and tells her, and she succumbs, and it’s exciting and beautiful.

Riddled with guilt, she ends it. He finds her plane crashed in the desert, her husband is dead and she is badly injured. He carries her to a cave and has to leave her alone to get help and promises to return. But he gets arrested and eventually escapes but by then it’s too late and when he eventually goes back to the cave, she’s dead.

There is also a lovely scene where the English patient’s nurse falls for a young Sikh soldier, and the picture of him having a wash in the garden with his long black hair on display is stunning.

Re: The English Patient

The English Patient is one that I have in my DVD collection, and watch again, every now and then - great cast, powerful film, very poignant.
