Saw a documentary on this last year and if the film is true to that I think we may go and see it. Don't really go much but occasionally there's something worth watching.

Re: Heart Of The Sea

Went to see the film today and wasn't disappointed. It cut deep to see the whale being harpooned and killed. What a primitive outlook we had back in the day although I don't blame the sailors, they were only doing what they thought was important. I suppose there are things that we do now that people will look back on in a hundred years time and think how could we have been so ignorant and stupid.

Well directed and a good story that kept me interested until the end. The best film I have seen this year! Glad I saw it first on the big screen. Makes me want to read the book ....

Japan carry on this brutal business even today regarding the butchering of whales.

Yes it's a sad state of affairs Browbeaten, but at least with most countries outlawing the practice it at least gives the Whales a chance to recover.

Me too Doc, It always surprises me how resilient the human race is when faced with survival situations. History has produced some amazing true stories of the fight for life in difficult situations. I must admit, I had written most of the crew of the Essex off.

Re: Heart Of The Sea

I enjoyed it too.
Ron Howard did a great job as director.
And the lead actor was pretty easy on the eyes!
