Rosie Batty

You may have heard of Rosie Batty, an English woman who came to Australia to live and had a son named Luke. His estranged father, who had visiting rights, came to see him one morning at cricket practice and killed Luke before police shot him dead.

Such a tragic story but Rosie Batty made such an impression, she was made 2014 Australian of the Year.

Her book is called A Mother's Story and I'm half way through it.

And the reason she was made Australian of the Year is because she decided to do something about it:

Following the murder of her son, she became an advocate for domestic violence victims and campaigner for fixing the failures in government processes relating to the protection of women and children.
In 2014, Batty established the Luke Batty Foundation to assist women and children affected by domestic violence
