Does the ignore facility cause division?

A member has suggested that the ignore facility on here causes division. I don't understand the logic or reasoning behind that suggestion but have been unable to get an explanation. Do others agree, and if so, can you please explain to me why?

I don't see how it can cause any issue at all, as as far as I'm aware, other members can't tell you're ignoring anyone

I don't really know how it works even.
Does the person you've got on 'Ignore' know you are ignoring them?

That was my feeling too. I can't see how it can cause any sort of 'division'.

So there's no issue whatsoever!

Some folk could cause an argument in an empty house

Re: Does the ignore facility cause division?

I've just put you on ignore, Orangutan, and now this thread looks very odd!
If you'd got someone who posted a lot on ignore, and you were quite a prolific poster yourself then it must make a right mess of the threads you read.
Seems easier to me just to skim over someone you're not keen on.
And if a third person quotes their post you'll see it anyway!!

Taking you off now Orang!!!
Phew that's better!

The problem being, if you ignore someone you can't see their posts so if you don't want to miss anything don't do it!

It would drive me nuts.
Now I'm wondering if I'm on anyone's ignore list.
Yikes!! How will I sleep
