Mrs Windsor and Austerity

I have received the following email. Since as Cameron says, "we're all in it together" only fair that Mrs Windsor too shares some of the pain don't you agree???

Dear Geoff,

I was shocked on Wednesday to hear George Osbourne tell us that the Queen's annual grant is set to rise to £42.8m - which is nonetheless only a fraction of the £334m total our own research shows us the monarchy costs.

In the midst of more cuts to public services our CEO Graham Smith has branded the royal funding increase 'a disgrace'.

I think the Sovereign Grant is out of touch with reality, and it's only the secretive and unaccountable nature of the monarchy that allows it to get away with such indefensible squandering of taxpayers money.

However, this may be about to change.

As we move further into the age of social media, "individual empowerment is eroding trust and belief in all institutions, and there's no logical reason why monarchy should not suffer a similar fate.

Pension off the 'old biddy' on a 'state retirement pension' in Sandringham, while we reconstruct the constitution to allow for a directly elected President.

Hi

We do not exactly have a good track record at directly electing the right person for the job do we?

President Blair?

No thanks.

I would agree, but who in their right mind, given his 'history' would vote for him now???

Thankfully democracy and the Eton boys in Westminster will keep the monarchy for many years to come.

Not enough plebs around nowadays to oust her lot.

Re: Mrs Windsor and Austerity

And just how much do you anticipate this presidency will cost? Is it going to be the reported $1.4 BILLION that the Obama administration costs?

Or what about your mate Mr. Putin

He allegedly has perks including....

20 palace and villas: with opulent fittings worthy of the tsars

15 helicopters

43 aircraft available include:
an Airbus, two Dassault Falcon executive jets and an Ilyushin Il-96 airliner that features an $11 million cabin fitted out by jewelers -and that toilet which, the report says, cost close to £47,000

53.7-metre yacht: with a designer interior, a spa pool, waterfall and wine cellar

11 luxury watches

Five-decked yacht: with a jacuzzi, barbecue, a maple wood colonnade and a huge bathroom faced in marble

The Royal family are starting to sound like a real bargain!

Hi

Frau Merkel is pushing for the EU to give Erdogan 3 Billion Euros .

Should buy him a few bits of furniture for his new shack.

Talk about obscene - in the amount of money it cost and the over-opulence. Created no doubt to match his massive ego.
