Kindness

Why does an act of kindness or caring make some of us cry?
I don't see the logic.

Why cry at nice things?

Re: Kindness

Its emotion isn't it, has a couple of forms
When we're happy we cry or sad, we cry
Pure emotion
I just wish I didn't cry when I laugh

Countrygirl, I am very surprised that a Lady such as you could come out with something like that!

But watching a film in particular, I can blub quite easily if I am touched by something!

Re: Kindness

I just think it's a bit odd when I mulled it over. Why cry if we're happy?

Some people cry at weddings, or an arm round our shoulder at just the right moment, a romantic scene in a film, or a kind offer of help - all lovely things. We're happy, yet we cry.

Funny old things, emotions aren't they.

I must admit, I can take unpleasant or difficult things easier than kindness. That always touches me deeply.

I can only speak for myself.

Having been through some pretty awful stuff I steal myself for the worst and keep emotions under strict control. If I cried everytime something went wrong we would all be buying rubber dingys!
Ive been let down, bullied and put under extreme pressure by some very nasty people. Ive had people say nasty things and unthinking hurtful things and Ive lost many of those I love.
So when someone does reach out and give me a hug or offer kindness it just comes as such a surprise that I do sometimes get caught out and become overwhelmed.

Yes, like Cass says - if you have been making a tremendous effort to hold yourself together, maybe because nasty things have been happening - or people have been unkind to you - then any kindness shown and the barriers crumble - and the tears come.

Re: Kindness

Pleased to hear others are the same, when people are kind here in their posts I always shed tears - so Cass and Indigo have expressed very well, the reason why
