They're Good Blokes

Nice to read some good news.

An elderly couple who rang 999 because they were ‘lonely’ have hailed the caring cops who turned up at their home for a brew and a chat.

Doris Thomson, 95, made the 999 call on Tuesday night because she needed some help looking after her husband Fred, who is blind.

Greater Manchester Police officer , PC Stu Ockwell, and a colleague responded by popping around to the elderly couple’s home for a cup of tea and a chat.

The kindly police officers' actions have touched the hearts of many.

***If you truly believe this couple wasted police time, please consider their ages and circumstances before commenting.

Yes Solo.
They certainly did the right thing.
Loneliness can be a really awful situation for some people.
Particularly around Christmas and New Year time.
In any case, it is nice to hear something good about the police for a change!

Just what I was thinking Julie. It shouldn't be down to the police to do things like that, I thought that was what Social Services was for.

Re: They're Good Blokes

When I read this article I thought back to how we could once ask or tell our local policeman anything and we always had a helpful response, and I could then quite understand why at her age Doris did ring 999.

What a lovely story, Solo - well done to those two police officers who were prepared to give their time.
