Good news - I received my first state pension

Bad news - the govt. have stolen 20% back

I suppose I'm lucky to get anything from the liars in Westminster.

It's so frustrating isn't it . When I was 60 I took triviality from my only private pension pot , it held 13k . I'd saved for it from the age of 36. I ended up with just over 11k , the rest was taken in tax .

Indeed you are George. I laugh when I remember all the talk around the independence referendum of "our pensions won't be safe!!!!".

You mean to say they are safe NOW?

I currently get a very small teachers pension, my late husband had a pension so I receive this and because he was only 55 I get a benefit for 12 months (Instead of him receiving a state pension which he paid into for 37 years) and yes I pay tax on this. Its ridiculous, he paid in 37 years for a pension he will never draw so they kindly give me a years worth of benefit and tax it
