Lovely pictures Loretta, isn't the Heron beautifully white, they are grey around here..

great pics Clumsy I think grasshoppers are awful though especially if they jump and land on you ..

Its a Little Egret i think, (cant see if it has yellow feet)but a member of the Heron family, dont see many Grasshoppers round my way.

Too big for a Little Egret Nom, at least I think so. There are very many Little Egrets around here and many Herons too, this one was much bigger than the Little Egrets, it was a really tall bird.

Little egrets have a crest, we get them on Purwell Meadows.

Hi

I am not an expert on these matters, but had a mooch around and apparently Great Egrets do have black beaks at certain times.

In that case i would go for Great White Egret, as the other contender being a Cattle Egret, but that is small as well. The crests are a breeding season feature.

The Greats have yellow bills but can show black bills depending on age and breeding condition.

A photo of a Little Egret alongside a Grey Heron i took a few years back showing how small they are.

They are round here, too Meg. Nice piccy's clumsy.
