Social workers sacked

Six of them have been sacked in Birmingham over the sad case of little Khyra Ishaq who was starved to death by her parents.

She was only seven years old, . . she was less than 3 stones at the time she died although there was plenty of food in the house, . . her warped parents had locked it away as a form of punishing her, . . I wouldn't do that to a dog let alone a child, . . the social workers had her under watch but didn't even meet the minimum standards set out by the children's department in Birmingham.

Her mother was sentenced to 15 years and her stepfather got an indefinite term with a minimum of 7 years.

It make me so ashamed of this society that we live in nowadays that this goes on, . . there was no need for this young life to end like it did.

That was truly a shocking case Nero, that poor, poor little girl I can't understand how anyone could treat a child like that and how it wasn't picked up by the social workers. Surely someone must have seen little Khyra in such a bad state and wasting away.

Some people should never be allowed to become parents...

Don't forget, neighbours watched as she and some of her siblings stole food off bird tables - and did nothing.

I think we are all to blame in many cases; we just won't take that extra step.

Didn't the parents have mental health problems? I can't remb now.. but if that was the case the kids should have been found foster homes...

I saw the headlines but haven't read the details, too upsetting. What I don't understand though at 7 she would've been at school, how come the teachers didn't notice how emanciated she was and as for the social workers, sacking is too good for them its their job for goodness sake not a sideline.
