Dark ducks.

Photographed on our local canal this afternoon. Are they a kind of Mallard, or something else altogether? They are larger than the more common Mallard duck. I thought they might be American Black ducks but maybe not.

Look like some sort of Mallard to me, may well me Melanistic or some sort of crossed breed, as ducks often interbreed

Dont think so Tess, Green Head and yellow bill not like the Norwegian Blue, anyhoo isnt that a dead parrot

I may of course be wrong

I'll have to go back to the canal and see (or hear) if they quack with a Scottish accent.

I've looked around the Internet a bit and can't find an exact match.

Black Swedish.
Otherwise, a Swedish/Mallard cross because the female has the green sheen to her head.
