Re: Europe or the USA
We owe a lot to America, . . in fact we owe our freedom to America, if it wasn't for America helping us during WW2 we'd have lost the war.Re: Europe or the USA
I can only say that I'd love it to happen, we share a language and a heritage of freedom, but politically it'll never take place. You could never accept our lax gun controls nor the existence of the death penalty in some states; and our conservative politicians would balk at your national health which they persist in calling socialized medicine ...and while I love my country, I'd be very very sorry to see the UK with it's long and glorious history become just another State. It just doesn't seem right....Re: Europe or the USA
Thanks for the replies so farRe: Europe or the USA
Europe... America has made too many enemies and I don't fancy getting blown up for some oil barons!Re: Europe or the USA
How could we ever be a part of a nation that cannot pronounce the word herb??Re: Europe or the USA
Well, as an American ex-pat, I'm a little biased on the subject! However, after 23 years of living in the U.K. I'm not entirely sure I'd want to strengthen ties with either the U.S. or Europe. We've got enough problems of our own without getting overly involved in theirs. Hope this doesn't sound too xenophobicRe: Europe or the USA
We shouldn't be a part of either Europe, or America. We have all but lost our identity and it is costing us much more money having MEPs, who all sit in a European parliament bringing out stupid, idiotic rules such as the curve of a banana, banning the "Clootie" dumplings, etc etc etc. We should go it alone, as we always did!Re: Europe or the USA
