20p nailbrush saves the south pacific.
I have been poorly but improving daily. Today it was time for me to go shopping along the High Street to pick all those annoying little nick nacks which I have had to put on hold.
I’m not convinced that’s the correct spelling & am tempted to chuck in a couple of silent “k”s.
e.g.Knick Knacks. That doesn’t look any better.
Nail brush! That’s top of my list. I hate dirty fingernails, not so worried about toenails because I can’t see or feel them & they’re always socked.
Boots, good ol’Jessie, philanthropist & old time social campaigner didn’t stock them & wouldn’t be having stock any time soon.
3 doors up I limped into a local chemist/hardware shop. I beamed and wearily asked to be taken into their nailbrush department, fully expecting another wasted trip.
“I’ll do better than that young sir” chirruped the assistant, oozing sarcasm & irony and a little patronisation.
“I’ll do better than that, I’ll bring the entire department to you”
So he did, a boxfile sized tray containing dozens of nail brushes in a myriad of shapes, styles & colours and all marked 20p.
With difficulty I selected a nice plastic one with a narrow strip of synthetic bristles and a grip on the back and all in a shocking shade of bright pink.
After all this excitement I trudged home holding my trophy aloft, shunning a non eco friendly plastic bag. That’ll save a few dolphins and pristine beaches over the south seas.
Tomorrow I’ll be looking for saety pins for infants nappys, I can’t wait.
