Starting a new club

Don't know if I'm posting this in the right area but for a while now I've been thinking that there is a need for a club in the area where I live and have been considering setting one up myself. I intend to do a bit more research yet but I would appreciate any thoughts on this. I'm a total novice so would love to hear your comments and ideas and would welcome any input. Thanks

A general friendship club . Yes I've looked around for possible venues
and there are a couple of possibilities.

Maggie maybe start by asking around locally if anyone would be interested. A notice in the local shop/post office/ doctors surgery etc with a contact number would be a good start. The notice needs to be eye catching with a few details

...also do some costing, eg hire of a venue how many people would be required to make it viable with limited 'subs'.

Re: Starting a new club

Thanks Meg. Yes I intend to put some feelers out to gauge the interest before doing anything definate. I'm more concerned about keeping people interested once they joined such as what should be on offer etc though I will probably have an initial meeting with all interested people (if any) to find out what they would want from a club.

Lovely idea Maggie. Local libraries often have useful notice boards.

Re: Starting a new club

Maggie. A friend of a friend started a simple coffee morning. 2 hours one morning a week where women meet for coffee & chat. They pay into a weekly kitty and once a month have a trip out to a garden centre or somewhere of interest.

That might not be a bad way to start and you could expand from there....
