Cowboys

We've all seen them, taking £50 grand off folks, doing £10 grands worth of work, then moving on to the next victim. Why do they always drive crap vans, and look unkempt, with that much profit you would think they would make a little effort, and, why does Matt Allwright never have a member of the HMRC with him?

They are getting much more sophisticated round here, Spitty.
They have flyers and even business cards printed sometimes, but there is rarely a home address or landline number on them, just a mobile number.

They also send a fairly 'decent' looking chap round door knocking first, to suss out any interest. Inspite of the collar and tie, the accent is a 'red light' to me, as is the absence of a vehicle anywhere in sight.

You have hit the nail on the head Mups, most white vans now have a name and a mobile number on them, personally I would never employ anyone who did not display a landline number, or a business address.

Not sure about that Mups, never tend to believe I am "Sucker Proof", always keep a "Bit" in reserve.

Yes, you're right. I could perhaps get caught off guard or by a more sophisticated scammer.
We can only try our best not to become yet another victim of these detestable people.

I can usually spot them - if not by looks, when they open their mouth and speak - I'm onto them
