Open farm Sunday

This Sunday (7th.) is Open farm day where many farms across the country have open days to show what life is like in farming and how food is produced. (No, it doesn't come from Sainsbugs and neatly wrapped in plastic).
I think it's a great opportunity to see and understand food production and ,weather permitting, I'll be going to a farm a few miles from me.

Anyone else going ?

First I've heard of it George, although I've done a lot of work on farms over the years I still find the processess fascinating, so I will Google to see if there is one open locally...

No I think they are a great idea for town children .We are going to a fête at 'the big house '

My grandchildren often go to the Cotswold farm park, a friends farm to feed lambs, the fruit farms to pick fruit and their other Nanna's large allotment growing many kinds of vegetables and they know exactly where their food comes from .

They are very lucky country children

Re: Open farm Sunday

Brilliant idea.. I once helped with a group of school children on a visit to a working fam...They looked at the cows with thier ear tags and one little girl said 'oh look its got earrings'

Before I could say anything a boy chirped up. 'dont be daft that the price ticket'

The other helper and I just had to hide our giggles.. We were able to put them straight a little later on though..

Their horror at finding out where eggs came from was another moment when a face says a thousand words...
Its a good way for educating children about food.
