I thought reading a newspaper was working? - The CEO came in one day and saw me reading a newspaper - he complained to my supervisor - who said - don't worry boss he's looking for a new job - can't stand the CEO!

Re: Newspaper

I have resorted to reading material at work, because in those cases I simply had nothing to do. As a petrol station cashier I read books, magazines, watched tv! Oh, and served customers when they came in to pay! As I worked alone I needed the entertainment.

In offices if I'd completed my work and had exhausted all avenues of finding something to do, ANYthing...pleeeeeeeze!!! Then I've taken out a paper or magazine. I never had access to internet in the days of 'nothing much to do' but even when it was available, never took the p***. Just did my work, and let lazy colleagues drop themselves in it.

Yeah, was a goody two shoes, me. Just preferred to be busy. I found it incredibly hard to sit at the desk, idle.
