Hospital gowns

At long last, the powers that be are introducing new hospital gowns (called modesty gowns), which will end the embarrassment of patients whose bottoms were exposed with the old style gowns. The new ones have been designed to tie up around the patient's side rather than around the back.

That has to be a great improvement ........ let's hope they now get round to doing away with mixed wards, another embarrassment for all concerned

Re: Hospital gowns

The present gowns are very undignified and that's the last thing you need when you are ill....... they make you feel ten times worse than you are!

lol @ Moli

Glad they are sorting it - as you say, mixed wards should be next on the list.

Re: Hospital gowns

Having worn hospital gowns numerous times, I did get the hang of them. The first thing to do is tie the bows up before putting it on, then pull it over your head. I never did get the hang of tying bows behind me.

The second thing is that they aren't really designed for wandering around in without a dressing gown being worn as well. With that done, the hospital gown covers you at the front and the dressing gown covers you at the back. Then they aren't undignified.

I have seen people wandering around with the hospital gowns tied at the front, thus showing worse than their rear to the world. What with that and/or peoples backsides being on view, I think the new gowns will be welcomed. Certainly by the 'bows at the front' people and also the spectators who glance up from their magazine and catch the view of a front or rear bottom.

It doesn't half make you return to the pages of the magazine very quickly.

Re: Hospital gowns

Hospital gowns tied at the back were designed to allow surgeons and doctors easy access to the patient's body

Thank goodness they are now sparing some thought for the person who has to wear it.

Re: Hospital gowns

The new ones, apparently, have strategic 'easy access points'. Eek!
Here's an article, with pics

Re: Hospital gowns

I think I would sooner have "secret slits" than an on view backside!
