Never understood this song and a bit too dreary fer meI thought it was about the cat that belonged to 'Rigsby'
but no, 'cos Midge goes on about a man in a picture frame - unless that's Rigsby ...................
Anyway - what's it about ..............?

Midge Ure said of the track: "We wanted to take the song and make it incredibly pompous in the middle, leaving it very sparse before and after, but finishing with a typically over-the top classical ending"

I don't think it matters what a song means. You either like it or you don't. I don't think songs in a foreign language are less enjoyable either - in fact without understanding the words you can forget about all the sappy romantic or otherwise angst ridden storyline and just enjoy the sound of the music and voice.
