Pecorino

I bought a tin of Baxters soup the other day, it was 'Bean, Bacon & Pecorino.'

"That sounds interesting", I thought. "I'll try that".

I had no idea what Pecorino was, even reading the ingredients shed no light on it. Anyway, I decided to risk it.
Well I had it today, and am still none the wiser.

Anyone know what Pecorino is?

Re: Pecorino

Hi Mups...
It's a hard Italian cheese...( I googled it!)
Never tried it, though...

Regards, Malc.

Re: Pecorino

Ah. That's interesting Malc, thankyou.

I certainly didn't taste any cheese in it. It was very tomato-ey though, a bit too much in fact, so I assumed it was a type of tomato. Thanks.

Re: Pecorino

I'm assuming that you'll not be purchasing it again?
One bitten ....

I'm not really very adventurous with food, I'm one that usually sticks with the basics...(Like eggs beans & chips)...

Re: Pecorino

I've bought it instead of Parmesan, Mups. Enjoyed it

Re: Pecorino

It is a hard Italian cheese. Originally made from sheep's milk. Parmesan is made from cow's milk. I use Pecorino all the time instead of Parmesan.

Re: Pecorino

I use pecorino a lot when preparing Italian food - it freezes better than Parmesan in pasta dishes.

I always say I learn more from OFF than I do any other place and I have learnt something new again today.

Italians Eat it when they are feeling gloomy, it helps them keep their "Pecorino Up".
