A Hug.

Lately with all the electioneering going on it seems we are being reduced down to nothing more than potential monetary value to our country.

It got me thinking about are we not more than this, what value do you put on a kind word or gesture, especially from a stranger.

One of our human ways to express support, or affection in a non verbal way is a Hug.

I must admit to not feeling comfortable either giving or receiving a hug myself, even though i recognise the reason behind it. Strange as im more of a deeds than words person.

However a hug is free, but its value can be priceless to one who needs it.

Re: A Hug.

I hug my wife, my daughter and other family females but I've never hugged a man, just shake hands.

Family yes .. We hug but strangers ?? Not really. Working with elderly people it sometimes happens that I will hug them but to be honest if Im upset I prefer to be left alone..

Family and friends i would agree on, if i had to hug a stranger it would only be if something bad had happened, like an Earthquake?

A Hug can be the last thing you need when you are "Feeling the Squeeze"

I agree with you Patsy.
Some people shy away from human contact and I find that sad sometimes.
A 'professional' would probably offer some clever, deep seated reason like no affection is childhood, or deep hurt from broken relationships, or whatever.
To me, to feel able to give or receive affection, whether it be a hug or a hand squeeze, is both normal and natural, and can be very comforting in appropriate circumstances.

I also agree with your last part Meg, and I am sending one to Nom as well.
