Then I moved on to Damaraland further north. Endless vistas of hills and plains, a unique culture and 'click' language and some fantastic singing! Not to mention a few elephants, mountain zebras, rhino, springbok and much more.
On arrival it looked rather like Arizona:
But the view from camp was quite different:

The big excitement of the stay was that it RAINED on my last day there. I had arrived by driving up a dry river bed, but by the time I left that river was flowing for the first time in four years so I had to be flown over it:
It's not often that rain on holiday is a bonus, but it was a special experience!
