I must admit I love 'em too Spitty.
Maybe it's something to do with ladies and gentlemen are usually portrayed as being so ultra polite to each other - among the aristocracy anyway. The men had lovely manners and treated ladies like ladies, and the women were both coy and respectful.
I love the way they dress, and how the men defend their women folk, and the whole romantic escapism thing I suppose.

Good stories and usually very little violence or sex, love the costumes and often set in lovely parts of the country.

Like Picasso im going through my Blue Period. I like Period dramas, Vikings, Romans, Anglo Saxons, lots of sword fights raiding and pillaging wots not to like.
