Car Insurance Renewal - dont get it ....

New research from 'Which' has shown that amending the date on which you want your policy to become 'active' could reduce your premium substantially ......
Quotations from 15 major providers found that changing your start date by just one day made a significant difference.
Because this is a deliberate move on your part, the company will see you as less of a risk, so you will receive a lower rate.
Why ? Is my question - don't get it at all .......

Could it be you lose a month by that method ? hence the price reduction ?

When you get car tax that can happen too.

If your cover starts on 30th January and you move on a 'day' to the 31st, why should that make a difference - its not a month - its a day .....

Do they not say which is the best day to start your insurance, then we can all have a cheaper policy?

If you start it a day early you will be losing a day off your present insurance, which you have already paid for.

If you alter the start day to a later day it is not a renewal as such. your insurance will have elapsed, and you will be taking a new policy out as a new customer.
Or am I wrong?
