Is it just me?

Read in the paper today that around £350,000 of NHS funding is spent on tattoo removal on those patients who are "traumatised" by their skin scribbles. Whilst I don't care a hoot if people decide to ink their loves and emotions on their skin I find it hard to reconcile this with those folk who have been denied life-lengthening drugs because they live on the opposite side of the road to a NHS health authority who will pay for it!

This isn't a rant about tattoos just a thread about barmy situations in our society ! ( I hope!)

Another Daily Wail article I imagine.

Tattoo removals are rarely available on the NHS, for example, if a person no longer likes their tattoo.
In rare cases, cosmetic surgery may be required to protect a person’s health.

The removal of tattoos is regarded as a procedure of low clinical priority and therefore not routinely funded by the Commissioner.

Yes it is, stirring the cauldron while muttering dark curses to promote outrage.

The talked about it on the right stuff, seems some people use scourers and one person used a cheese grater to DIY it at home, the figures seemed to be about putting right the damage people do when they try to remove them.

It must be pretty drastic to use a cheese grater. Probably better not to have one in a prominent place especially one with a name.

Couldn't agree more, I think we need far tighter laws on inking, apparently you can buy a kit on the internet and start inking yourself or friends ! How safe can that be ?????

NHS money should all be spent on people who are ill - not on cosmetic procedures.

I don't think the NHS should be paying a penny towards tattoo removal. It's a ridiculous waste of money to help silly people get rid of ridiculous tattoos that they really didn't give thought to. Mines will stay put till I croak it

Re: Is it just me?

They paid for the tattoo in the first, if they have changed their mind, tough, pat to have it removed.
