Stair Lift

Would you have one fitted , I am afraid I would resist it with all my might, as I believe going up the stairs is very beneficial, for knees . Still I suppose if it becomes hard to get up stairs it would be a good thing. Some plump for a bungalow.

Re: Stair Lift

No choice here we aren't allowed them, meant a few years ago a poor chap had to carry his wife up and down the stairs in the weeks before her death, we had to in the very end give up and put mum into hospital as we couldn't get her up and down Would I have one - if needed yes in a heart beat. Would I be allowed is another matter.

Re: Stair Lift

In 2000 I had no choice but to buy one when my knees seized up.
After knee replacements I could manage the stairs fine, my surgeon told me the knees would last between 10 and 20 years, so I use the chair to save my knees, best thing I have ever done.

I think a stair lift might be over egging the pudding for my two steps.

Might get a ramp though.

Very good Mags, Phyllis and me had a good laugh at that, and to make it even funnier when that woman came back down she was the spittin image of her eldest sister Maisie, hair and all.

Re: Stair Lift

Well if the only way to get upstairs is a stair lift and you are in your own home and can have one fitted then yes it seems like a sensible thing to do. It's probably a lot more expensive to move house.

Re: Stair Lift

My neighbour two doors down had a stairlift fitted. He had lung cancer. Sadly he's now passed on, but his wife has chosen to keep it as she has COPD. These adaptations don't come easy to get, so she's quite right.

Re: Stair Lift

Bit dubious about Stairlifts, my Father had one fitted, departed this world before he had the chance to use it.
