Malcolm Fraser

Malcolm Fraser Australia's 22nd Prime Minister and grazier has died aged 84.

Always tainted by the way he engineered the downfall of the Whitlam government, branded Kerr's Cur by Whitlam, he redeemed himself in later years by becoming the liberal conscience as the Liberal Party moved more to the right.

Ironically he and Gough Whitlam became great friends in later life and pushed many human rights causes together. Unlike the Liberal Party he supported Rudd's 'Sorry' speech.

He became estranged from the Liberal Party over their inhumane handling of refugees.

His great protagonist and later friend Gough Whitlam died only a little while ago.
