Brighton and parking meters

On the news this evening Brighton and Hove council are doing away with loads of parking meters and trying to get motorists to pay via their mobile phone app.

Or one can get on their mobile phone and ring a number

Great if you have a mobile phone which I and many other still don't possess

The other point is if you pay for something by law the recipient has to give a receipt for that payment. That can only be done by this council via email- text or if Vat registered get that downloaded.

What kind of absolutely narrow minded lot that are, The harder it is to get a parking space the more they are going to drive out visitors.

What they should be doing is building huge multi storage car parks a bit out of town with a free bus into Brighton

Drive out the motorist and you drive out trade, it is as simple as that.

Re: Brighton and parking meters

I agree with you Speed.
I have only been to Brighton once a few years ago.
The parking was the bind we found about the place.
We were going for a day there and attempted to go
in the one multi car park. It was something like £15 or £20
for the day. So we drove around for ages and found
a parking meter which costs us £3 for the hour. That
gave us time to walk around a little time and then we
got back in the car and went to Eastbourne where there
are at least 2 free parking fields for hundreds of cars,
and they use these away from the front and its not far to
walk to get to the beach.
So where are you going to go for your holidays

Happened in London 10 years ago much better system but you can still go to a pay booth and get a ticket to put on your windscreen.

Re: Brighton and parking meters

They tried it here, and had that many complaints that they had to get the parking meters back in operation.
