Has anyone else noticed how many adverts are in Scottish accents, even Aldi. Just wondering why ? I have no objection at all , in fact rather like them, just curious, as it seems to be a trend.
My Scottish mate Jimmy is living here for over 30 years and he never lost a bit of his accent, I love it and could listen to him all day, just as well cos he never stops talking.
When my friend is finishing our phone chat, she sometimes says "Och aye the Noo." ( I know I've probably spelt it all wrong), but it always makes me smile.
There have been many surveys into accents , for some businesses getting the right one to represent you can be very important ...
Here is just one instance..
The reason why there seem to be so many Scottish voices on the BBC is also why Scotland is tops for "call-centre" businesses. Scots, generally, sound classless, educated and warm; they have an accent but they enunciate. They score highest for both trustworthiness and competence. The best Scots is something like an educated Falkirk accent - sort of midway between Edinburgh's Morningside and Glasgow's Drumchapel. http://www.independent.co.uk/voices/...t-1302765.html
I have a friend who comes from Harris. Beautiful accent, sounds full of common sense and confidence, but actually she´s a bit dippy! It´s all in the mind...
