Childhood friends

Do you remember your childhood friends,What did you get up to ,did you get into mischief?

I use to hang out with the boys playing football ,,
We had a after school play centre , but on one occasion i and the boys got into trouble for running round to much ,The boys got lippy with the teacher and little Johnny shouted run
.We all ran into the street , and hid in the out side toilets of houses , only to have the men come out shouting and saying what they would do when they got hold of us .....
So then little johnny shouts out again run for it .

I did run and didnt stop till i got home .
Next day at school we were all sent for punishment .

Id love to hear about your friends and what you got up to

Re: Childhood friends

Eliza.
My twin sister and I went to an all girls school and on one occasion we were on an outing with the school to Hampstead Heath in London.
Dorrie (my twin) and I had a close knit of friends and we all walked slowly behind the group. The teacher shouted "Come on you lot. Keep up with us" so we'd rush to keep up then doodled again behind.
One of our friends said I know this road Let's go up it and meet them at the end. We all giggled and dashed up the road unbeknown to the group in front.

When we reached the top of the road and down the other road to meet them we saw the children and teacher scanning all around.
"YOO HOO" said one of my mates.
The teacher was furious thinking that she had lost us. We certainly got punished for that.

Re: Childhood friends

My two best friends were Caroline and Francis. I have fond memories of them. But, my other friend, Wilma, emigrated to Australia when she was about 8. Her family had a farm here and they moved on to Oz to obviously have a better life. I remember her so clearly.

Re: Childhood friends

I keep in touch with one or two. One from the age of 4. How I remember that night we took a walk and he said his girl friend was pregnant.

That was 1971 and at the 40th anniversary I was called out to be introduced as the most important man in the room as I introduced David to Joyce.

Oh and I am Godfather to their second child.

Re: Childhood friends

OG that was a friendship that stood the test of time,

Alice ..funny how we remember our friends name from back then ,I can name a few of mine , ,You must have been sad when your friend moved to Australia ,
I had a friend move away and she came to say goodbye with her mum , years later i was working in a factory and recognised her , But that friendship never was regained .

Eliza, I remember it was a bright sunny day when she left. We all sat outside in the grass, giving her our parting gifts. I had a huge lump in my throat. We were so young, but good friends. I often wonder what became of her. Hope she's had a great life.
