Just seen on Twitter that she has passed away. What a shock.

I am so shocked!! I had to go on Twitter myself as I thought it could have been a joke.

I'd put up on Corrie spoiler that she'd asked for extended leave as she found the filming schedule to be quite draining, but I never realised how badly it affected her.

RIP Anne. Your Corrie friends will miss you.

I was reading your post this afternoon and hoping that she would decide to come back. I had to check as thought it was a hoax on Twitter. She will be missed.

That is a shock even though Anne (Deirdre) has been away from the Street for many months.

A stalwart of Coronation Street for 44 years, she will be sadly missed by many.

The article said it was a short illness. I'd say! She was quoted as saying only the other day she was wondering when or if to return to the show.

So very sad to hear this. You felt as though you knew her "personally". I remember a programme about her and she was a carer to her uncles. So down to earth.

I saw the news via Jazzi's post on facebook. I'm still in shock.
I know she had lymphoma many years ago - I wonder if her death was something to do with that?
