Don't go clubbing, but go pubbing occasionally to pubs with a dancefloor and have a wee boogie or two

Why not? We had a local that did music from the 60's and 70's every Friday night and it was packed every Friday ...

Its closed now and there is nowhere for anyone older than 20 to enjoy music that isnt all house, bop, rap, grunge, techno....blah

I would, if it were music to me liking and the right atmosphere - not too crowded - oh, sounds like me own place - I'll stay here

I'm deaf but my wife would love to go out and dance and have fun with people our own age and I'd happily take her, even if i had to turn off my hearing aids most of the night AND learn to dance!

That'd be difficult because I cannot follow a tune now - it all sounds the same to me but if it made my wife happy I'd go for it!

I know some would think me daft but for a deaf man married to a normal-hearing woman I get a great deal of pleasure seeing a smile on her face.

About 15 years ago someone I knew told me that had financial backing to start a new nightclub for the over 30s with a small casino on-site but MK Council knocked it back - three times.

Now we have a casino in MK but we still only have clubs for those 18 - 25's that want to get drunk as quickly as possible, clog-up the city centre, take all the coppers off the rest of MK's streets and fill-up A&E every Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday.

Why is it then, these days, that once you pass 40 you become a non-person to the entertainment business and are constantly accused of clogging-up A&E and causing hardship to younger generations?

I don't remember this antipathy when I was 20, 30 or 40 - do you? stevmk2

I think it's great if that floats your boat, but it's not my idea of a night out. I don't drink alcohol, which makes hanging around with people who do drink pretty tedious in the long run. I also prefer to hold a civilized conversation with people rather than have to bellow to each other over loud background music.

Re: Clubbing for the Over 50s!

They do that downstairs in our local every Saturday night and there's always a great crowd lapping it up, and why not, beats sitting around a table drinking tea. The wife, her Sisters and meself often drop down to shake a leg or two.
