Abu Simbel Egypt ( video)

What you see is where they moved it to when they decided to create Lake Nasser. it would have been under water, so they moved it block by block exactly to where it is above. the rocks above are actually just a shell to protect the inside statues which one is not allowed to photograph. While we were in there someone tried with a camera phone and was quickly marched off by the tourist police. What happened after i don't know.

Egypt has 3 layers of police, the military, the civil and the tourist who mingle with the crowds.So if going there obey their rules and you will be ok.

This may just look like an open space, actually when a new Emperor came to power he had to prove he was fit to rule to his people. He had to do this by running around this square. oh just one little thing, there was only one person allow to watch him do this feat and that would have been his no 2 in command or someone. no one else was allowed to watch, so consequently every Emperor managed it.
