Transience

Before Christmas i cut a few rose buds from a small bush i had cut down in Summer, despite my gardening skills it returned and provided a few blooms that now are in a vase in my bedroom. Looking at them they have almost come full circle from near oblivion, through bud, full bloom, and are now going over. A transient journey but effected by so many external factors.

It got me thinking about my own journey and what if anything it has been worth, i thought i had the answers, now never really answered anything, just plodded down the road ahead.

“But life is just a party, and parties weren't meant to last.” Prince.

Re: Transience

I like the way Shakespeare spells out what he thinks of life.

All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances,
And one man in his time plays many parts,
His acts being seven ages. At first, the infant,
Mewling and puking in the nurse's arms.
Then the whining schoolboy, with his satchel
And shining morning face, creeping like snail
Unwillingly to school. And then the lover,
Sighing like furnace, with a woeful ballad
Made to his mistress' eyebrow. Then a soldier,
Full of strange oaths and bearded like the pard,
Jealous in honor, sudden and quick in quarrel,
Seeking the bubble reputation
Even in the cannon's mouth. And then the justice,
In fair round belly with good capon lined,
With eyes severe and beard of formal cut,
Full of wise saws and modern instances;
And so he plays his part. The sixth age shifts
Into the lean and slippered pantaloon,
With spectacles on nose and pouch on side;
His youthful hose, well saved, a world too wide
For his shrunk shank, and his big manly voice,
Turning again toward childish treble, pipes
And whistles in his sound. Last scene of all,
That ends this strange eventful history,
Is second childishness and mere oblivion,
Sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans e

Re: Transience

Transience can be very poignant. I think we just have those mindful moments sometimes. It's probably because it's the beginning of a new year

Re: Transience

I hope your rose bush blooms beautifully this summer so you can enjoy the blooms anew.

It is indeed a funny time of year, dark and cold and more so after the garishness of Christmas. It's a time for thinking and that is not a bad thing, it's what people have done since we were sitting in caves in animal skins on cold winter nights.

Re: Transience

Might I be a little philosophical for a moment. This planet, Space and time, is merely a product of CHAOS. On that understanding. We are not going to find reason for anything as an explanation. We should stop looking for a reason and try to accept. Each and every life has a time of birth, of living their life and of Death. Do the animals and plants ask why or what they are here for? We shall live our allotted span according to our genetics and then we must die. Enjoy the life and don't look for any reasons. Nature does not have to explain itself.
