Car Tax

Has anyone had to renew their car tax under the new paperless system yet?
What do we have to do if we use the post office rather than 'online'?

I'll have a look Barry, I fear it may be beyond my technical capabilities though. Its not due till January, so I've got plenty of time yet.

Re: Car Tax

I have just had to send off my driving licence as i am reaching 70 years old. Why I don,t know ,waste of gov. time . But there is a thing called " GATEWAY" they run. so what is it?

I once they have your details and photo anything GOV. related all you have to do is go into GATWAY with your code they give you and your own password and all your details are there. For example picture -name-addy tele no etc so you don't have to fill out the same thing each time. I
use it for my passport - driving licence - and anything else that is GOV. related.

What has annoyed me is since I had, and still have, my red book driving licence for the 1960's what I am allowed to drive has been reduced significantly. This last application now stops me driving a 16 seater bus- 3,5 to 7.5 ton lorry, unless I did everything paper wise. Not that I can get 16 people in my car but that is beside the point.

You get people who drive a lot younger that drive dangerously or in the case yesterday in Scotland with the refuse lorry , where it seems the driver may have had a heart attack, but he was much younger and killed 8 people.

So why restrict 70+ year olds? it just does not make sense.

When your tax is due Mups you will get a renewal reminder as usual, on which is a sixteen digit reference number. Just enter this number on the DVLA website together with your debit/credit card details and bingo, your insurance and MOT are checked automatically and that's it, you're done. Simples

Re: Car Tax

My tax expires on 31st December and I renewed mine online a couple of weeks ago when the reminder arrived.

No problems
