New mother who vanished in Bristol

Very sad news that a body was found in the water in Bristol last night, in the search for the new mother who left the maternity hospital with her 4 day old baby, but without a coat.

She hasn't been formally identified yet, and there is no sign of the baby. But how very sad for the family of whoever this victim is, and even more sad if it is this new mum.

Terribly sad. I watched the cctv of the mum leaving the hospital with the baby in her arms. Heartbreaking.

So sad and especially for the family now who have lost a baby as well.
It was four days old and that's when the depression comes over you
so remember it crying for no reason. They said it was because of the
hormone drop in the body after the high of giving birth.
Bless them both. Very sad.

I remember the crying period too BE. I don't know the circumstances of the poor woman, but if she had added problems then it must have been sheer torment.

Was shocked to hear this - depression needs more resources, it's not taken seriously enough - Poor woman she must have been going through hell.... and the baby, too.

The powers that be must make better provision for people with psychiatric problems. My son's partner is a nurse at Northampton hospital and she tells me that they don't have even one doctor specialising in mental health.

Re: New mother who vanished in Bristol

Such a sad thing, I guess she may have had PND.
Postpartum hormone swings can cause all kinds of unpredictable behaviour, I remember when my son was born I experienced inexplicable feelings off loss and was very weepy .

It must be a terrible time for her family when they should have been experiencing a time of happiness.
