The Balconies

Following Victor Mate's Stairs blockbuster, here is another theme for you to follow or contribute....

In the town of Fiddle-Faddle, two new blocks of flats were built facing each other. One block called Brighton Towers had only single bedrooms and the other, called Bath Towers two bedrooms. Now, the former had little balconies but the one opposite had very superior balconies. Competition soon showed itself when residents moved in.

Number 20 Bath Towers soon put out a pair of very expensive chairs and tables, while number 10 Brighton, some plants in pots, which really needed watering. And so on.......

Tell us about the best and worst balconies you have seen, or the ones with unusual contents

Re: The Balconies

on the sea front at Douglas in the Isle of Man there's a block of flats with balconies. Some years ago one of the flats had life sized models of Laurel and Hardy sat in deck chairs.

Re: The Balconies

My last residence was a 9 unit apartment house. It was a 3 level building with shared balconies. It was a real hodgepoge of stuff.

My area was fixed up nicely with small chairs and tables, plants, wind chimes, and ceramic animals. The lady next door had an old rusty grill, her husbands stinky shoes, and an old dresser they were refinishing; ugh, it was a mess.

Re: The Balconies

Coz the little balconies were sweet and tiny, there was a rumour that some of the big balconies were making eyes at the balconettes opposite.

Fred in number 11 is a binocular collector, and at night he used to scan the flats opposite for any naked nymphs cavorting with no curtains.

Justin at number 23 was and perhaps is an opera singer, and in summer nights his vocal efforts paralysed the ears of the inmates of the surrounding flats. Grrr.

One musical noise, perhaps unwanted, is the rolled of rubber tyres on concrete as the binmen roll the giant wheely bins to the lorry every week. Always at 0630 of course, making the inmates turnover in their beds, cursing as usual.

Life goes on....

Re: The Balconies

Its a waste to see balconies and gardens unkempt. They can be made so pretty.
