What makes a man feel manly?

It never ceases to amaze me the things people do studies on. I just saw this one today -

"Men get most pleasure from success at DIY, a study has found.
A total of 36% said it was "a great joy" when a task works out. Fixing an item came second in men's "40 most satisfying things in life".

Apparently it makes men feel more manly - is that right chaps? What makes you feel more manly?

I think DIY is one of those things my husband does because he has to rather than loves and makes him feel manly, he always looks most manly I think when he is being gentle with the kids or our dogs, seeing him walking our Chihuahua always makes me smile.

Re: What makes a man feel manly?

During my working life i was offered office based positions a few times, promotion and financial increases but i turned them all down. Simply just loved making things using my own skills and as an individual, rather than working with a bunch of others.

Even when i was in supervisory positions, i wanted to be doing rather than organizing. But at home i hate DIY, always seems a chore to me, but if i get a chance to get onto reserve to do some work im out clearing scrub and restoring old lake beds for otters, just gives a feeling of satisfaction.

Must add i hate gardening, i like things wild rather than cultivated.

My husband has always been good at DIY, so is our eldest daughter! Nothing to do with being manly just whether you can do it or not.

Re: What makes a man feel manly?

I think a manly man is one who looks after his family well and is caring. Diy doesn't make you a man!
