New clothes

They were having a phone-in on the radio today, on whether there are sufficient locations for the "Over 50's" to buy clothes from locally. They meant Mens shops as well as Womens.
Most people were saying there was very little choice of older fashions where they lived, so they had to buy from catalogues.
More said they found M & S frumpy, dull and drab, and much preferred the Bon Marche shops if they could get to one. The majority thought there were too many shops only geared up for the youngsters.
It's a shame so many older people have not got suitable shops for their age group, because not everyone is able to travel miles away.
Are you confident you could go and buy a new outfit, or the men get a nice new suit, locally?

Re: New clothes

Sheila gets most of her clothes from Bon Marche while I get most of mine from Greenwoods.

Re: New clothes

I like Sainsbury, bon marche and matalan. My favourite is Fifty plus clothing online.

Re: New clothes

Mrs Grumble was making the same points when we went to Aberdeen for some clothes shopping. She did find some things in BHS, but M&S was very disappointing. However, she's delighted at having come down a size and can now happily look in H&M, which is a favourite with our daughters.

I'm a great fan of C&A and I can usually get clothes 'off the peg' there without any trouble. (Dianne also really liked their 'Landhaus' range of clothes) Unfortunately, we have to wait until we go to Germany for that.

Re: New clothes

Debenhams for Planet; John Lewis for East - for special. Anywhere cheap for very casual day to day.

Re: New clothes

Wish we had a C & A George .......
Could never buy from 50 plus and the like .......
Most shops cater for the younger market which is foolish of them, there's a huge market to tap into, just lowering the length of skirts and dresses would be a big help ........

Re: New clothes

I'd urge anyone to look at 50 plus online. They've got beautiful clothes and their sales are great

Re: New clothes

I'm not sure I like the idea of over 50s clothing, I have made most of my clothes all my life I'm a bit naughty I keep an eye on Joe Browns collection and copy some of his these days. Probably would be told too young for me but it covers all me bits and is bright and colourful so does me.
