Re: Dishwasher

Do you have hard water ? we find they don't last more than about 18 months with our hard water so gave up buying them.

Re: Dishwasher

I've had one for years but I can't say I'm thrilled with it. It wears the glaze off the crockery. Mine look ever so dull - lost all their shine.
It isn't any good at cleaning dirty greasy pans either!

Re: Dishwasher

Never had one Cinderella, there is usually only me, so it doesn't take long to do the dishes.
I've heard you have to have a lot more crockery if you use a dishwasher though, because you need more clean plates to eat off whilst the dirty ones are still waiting to be washed.

Re: Dishwasher

We have one and I only use it after the Sunday lunch or when we have company. It doesn't save much time.

Re: Dishwasher

Have one, and wouldn't be without until it breaks! Then it turns blue. This is a hard water area also, so I have installed what I call a "salt filter" where the water comes in to soften it. Sorry I dont know the correct name. I've called it that so long I've forgotten it!

Re: Dishwasher

We have had a dishwasher for the last 40 years our present one is a Bosch.
We are in a soft water area but for those who are not there is a salt dispenser you use to counter act hard water.
You have to be sensible and not overload it otherwise the water may not circulate correctly around the dishes, but having said that a normal full size unit takes 12 place settings.
Yes long term washing of glasses can reduce the sparkle but 99% of the time we have normal crockery in it.
We would never go back to washing up in the sink.
