Alias poor Yorrick?

I've just been told out on a social media site, that people who use made up names are being removed. I hope it's not true as most of us Steampunks use weird nicknames.
If you were told you had to use your real name on a forum or other social media site, would you do it or leave?

I do use my real name - I don't see any reason not to, I'm not on the "wanted" list.

Not sure - my names an unusual one, surname that is, there aren't that many around so, hmm, I'd have to give it some thought.

Re: Alias poor Yorrick?

If I used my real name on here and any of my workmates came on they'd know it's me - my name is that unusual. I wouldn't like that, I suppose I enjoy the anonymity.
I have never met anyone else with my surname.

Edited to add that I could make one up I suppose as BoyRacer says - how would they know?

Re: Alias poor Yorrick?

I use to work with someone who had an unusual Swiss name and I think her and her family were the one of only 4 in the UK with that surname.

Married now, I think, and not likely to be on an over 50's forum.
