Unusual presents you have given or received.

Last Birthday i received a large parcel from my Daughter, it was heavy and i could not wait to open it. The day arrived and i opened my gift, i was gobsmacked when i pulled out a large plaster cast of a Cocker Spaniel.

For the past couple of years I've bought, as a Christmas present for my daughter's partner, a token for a pack of vegetable plants from a company called Rocket Gardens. He then has to phone the company and tell them when he wants it delivered and hey presto, he has a plot full of vegetables in half a day.

That was an unusual gift Fred I try hard to look for something a bit different when choosing a gift .
Last year I bought my sister a bird box to hang in a tree and some bird feeders .

I have had some odd ones too like one glass ball ornament for a Christmas tree (I never have a Christmas tree), heated foot warmers in the shape of a hippopotamus and a handbag from a Nigerian girl (I am pretty sure it was illegal goods) made from animal skin and there seemed to be bits of the animal still stuck to it

A friend once "bought" me a goat for Africa. Just what I've always wanted .. I once bought my husband a plaster cast of Oliver Cromwell's death mask - and the following year I got him ......... a machine gun complete with bullet belt and tripod stand! Can't remember the make but it's an enormous thing. This year he'll probably get a shirt!

About 30 years ago I was given a Christmas gift from a friend. A wee zebra finch in a lovely cage. I named him Rudolph. They normally live around 6-7 years. He was 12!
