Back again

Had a great few days away with surprizingly good weather for October. Had a few drams and a few pints, but now it's back home again...

Here's a few pics taken round Aberlour and Speyside..

The van on site at Aberlour gardens

Sculpture at 'The Glenlivit' distillery..

View over the fields to the Craigellachie and Glenrothes distilleries.

Re: Back again

Wow, great photos. Glad you had a good time.

If I had a good lottery win I would buy a camper van. In fact, if I sell my flat and get a good rental accommodation (council or HA), that is my plan.

Re: Back again

Lovely pictures.
That's a lot of casks in the last shot. Nice to see an old art still alive.

Re: Back again

Lovely photos and I also would love a camper van, just to go off on a whim, sounds brilliant.

Re: Back again

Regarding the casks, that pile is a tiny fraction of the ones being restored at the cooperage. The oak casks are either Spanish sherry casks or American bourbon casks. Apparently the bourbon casks are only used once for bourbon and are then sold to the whisky industry. The sherry casks are multi-use so they are relatively rare and expensive.

The casks can only be used for a certain number of years before all the colour is out of the wood. They are the sold for domestic use such as planters, garden furniture and even baby's cradles.
