pass the sick bucket

Pass the sick bucket - I've just watched my first Christmas ad on tv. Okay, it was always going to happen and always will, but I can't help thinking about people, especially young families, who struggle to buy gifts for Christmas and end up in debt. No wonder companies like Wonga are laughing all the way to the bank. It's such a terribly materialistic world for some.

On our first trip to swimming, at the end of September, my neighbour and I drove past a house with the entire front elevation adorned with Christmas lights! Blue and white strips going from roof to ground.

Re: pass the sick bucket

I bought my first Christmas Present yesterday online for it to be picked up by my daughter on the Island ,this way i save on postage ..
I think its down to the parents to buy within their needs rather than getting in debt .
I also think its down to parent to educate their children that some children get very little .
There are ways of helping the less well off and that's to buy and donate to charities that will give to those unfortunates .
Ive filled Shoe boxes with gifts that cost very little , wrapped them up in Christmas paper , I imagine the delight on that childs face when they recieve that gift . One Christmas i was that Child aged 10 there was no more Christmas presants for me after as i was considered old enough to do without .

They got all the Christmas toys and goodies in at my local Pets at Home too Meg, hundreds of 'em, along with doggie Christmas cards and even next years calenders.

Yes they do seem to start it earlier each year, greed has no bounds, but what can we do but grin and bear it. (There's the big grin but I'm not going to bare it)

Re: pass the sick bucket

I was looking through the film listings for something to watch on TV tonight and on True Movies there was more than one Christmas themed film on today!! Madness...

I am a Christian and both my wife and I love Christmas and the Christmas season, but only when it is ACTUALLY the Christmas season!
