Re: Dentures ...
I wear a partial (upper) and I have a brand new one now because the worst thing imaginable happened to me...
My friend and I were eating in a restaurant. We both got burgers. About halfway through mine, I bit down into it and *snap*, the two front teeth broke off. So here I am, trying not to be too obvious, feeling around in my mouth with my tongue for the two teeth that were swimming amongst my mouthful of food, so I could reach in and pull them out. And let me tell you, there is no casual, elegant way to do that.
Needless to say I had to function through my daily routine for a while until I could get to the dentist and have a new partial made, which I also had to wait for once my impressions were sent off to the 'denture lab'. So I went to the drug store and bought a denture repair kit and it did a well enough job of keeping the teeth glued together, but I couldn't eat anything that I had to bite down into and ate only soft foods for a while because I didn't have the denture power to eat stuff that had to be chewed.
The reason the teeth broke off is because there was a crack in the top of the denture that got worse every time I put pressure on it until that awful day in the restaurant when it finally gave way.
